Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I am blessed with 2 beautiful girls of my own; each with wonderful & unique birth experiences! And I believe your birth experience can be the same no matter what it looks like. I have been around mothers & babies my whole life- between daycares, babysitting, & being a full-time nanny for many years, I have a tender-spot in my heart to see moms & babies thrive!

What led you to become a Doula?: After having 2 beautiful births, but also continually hearing horror stories of unsupported or uneducated births & forced decisions, I knew I wanted to be a small part of the solution so that other mommas could say the words "beautiful" about their birth experiences! I want to provide support- encourage mental, emotionally, spiritually & physically. I want to support with sound information & direct you to seek the best resources. I am passionate about birth & it excites me to think of the possibility of helping create a positive birth outcome!

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

I am loyal. I will have your back the entire way through your pregnancy; championing whatever birth decisions you make for you & your baby!
Friends & family say that I am compassionate, sincere, authentic & caring. I will work hard to see your birth dream come to life.
I am a good listener & I will go the extra mile to support you in any way that I can!

What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: My favorite resources include a pregnancy app & parenting app called Ovia to track my pregnancy journey & transition into motherhood with fun & very helpful videos & reading articles for each stage of 'pregnancy & baby.' I sought out a few books about labor (specifically ones that aligned with my faith), books on sleep training, & different stages of parenting. I found different mom-blogs to be helpful for random questions that arose day-to-day. And to be completely honest, seeking out moms who have gone before in different pregnancy/ parenting stages, has served to be one of my most reliable resources & support.

What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: I am overjoyed. It puts an instant smile on my face- I can empathize & cheer them on! It is such an exciting time for these moms (and dads)! I think of all the unknowns that they are going to walk into but I know the strength of a mom & the resilience of a mom & those unknowns will lead to such a wonderful & unforgettable adventure.

What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: As a birth worker, the best gift I can give you is absolute support, from the first heartbeat to the first breaths into parenthood. There is nothing harder than walking into pregnancy or parenthood feeling alone & isolated. You deserve love, kindness, care & encouragement from day 1.

What is your favorite TV show or movie?: New Girl, hands down!

What is your favorite place to vacation?: Cruising- perfect combo of destination, exploration & relaxation!

What is your favorite food?: Can a Chai Latte be a favorite food??

What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: The "ideal day off": (this is includes day off as a momma!) Sleep in till 9, grab a cup of Chai at my fave coffee-shop just up the street (they make their own & throw a splash of vanilla in there for me), bring along my journal & current read, spend time creatively writing while listening to some Indie Folk, hit up a mid-afternoon hot yoga session, maybe buy a couple plants & do some thrifting, grab a good bite with my hubby that evening, do a fun activity like rock-climbing or pottery class & end the day with a bowl of cookie-dough ice cream cuddled on the couch watching a sit-com on Hulu!

Who lives in your house?: My sweet household includes myself, my husband Josh (of almost 5 years), my 2 girls Indee & Lainey (2&1/2 and 1), our best friend & gay uncle Tyler, & our little kitten, Reedy! (along with my 20 different house plants!)
