Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I am finishing up my final semester at WKU. I finally will have my biology degree!!!!! Second degree is in High School Education (Double Major). In think my teaching will help me be able to teach others when it comes to lactation or when I become a child birth educator. I have completed 90% of my bio degree under a Pre-Med concentration ( Before I discovered the Doula world), there for I think I will continue to grown into a CNM and build on to my bio background. I want to research why it is African American women are #1 to pass while giving birth. I have always enjoy genetics during my studies and would like to apply it for research later into my career
What led you to become a Doula?: As a child I used to be obsessed with the show Birth Day on TLC. Literally showed women having babies all day. I just fell in love with the idea of getting to witness such greatness EVERYDAY!!! That moment of pure joy and love that fills the room. Its the ultimate climax that outdoes any book! Any ways, so I decided I wanted to be an OB/GYN and have a birth center when I was like 8. As I perused the career I realized it was NOT going to be a personable as I would like it to be. So I discovered the role of a Doula and I haven't looked back since.
