Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have worked with children and families for over 10 years in various capacities. I also have an extensive background in Early Childhood Education and Development focusing on ages birth to 5 years.
What led you to become a Doula?: I started my motherhood journey with the birth of my son in 2016. During my pregnancy there were tons of resources on what to expect and plenty of prenatal appointments. Once he was born all that support seemed to be so scattered that it felt really overwhelming and at times lonely. After my daughter was born, I had a similar experience. I wanted to be a part of a system that supports and empowers women throughout their journey through labor and in the postpartum period.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
People describe me as detail oriented and compassionate. Building and maintaining relationships is one of my strongest skills.
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: I’m always reading up on best practices in child development, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and parenting.
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: I always think of ways I can help. I smile to myself about the incredibly joyous journey for their family.
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: Attunement and resources. Nothing instills more confidence than knowing that someone truly hears you. It’s a double win if that same person can provide you with resources and information to empower you to make the best choice for your unique circumstances.
What is your favorite TV show or movie?: Most movies involving Stan Lee.
What is your favorite place to vacation?: Any place with great food, great people and atmosphere!
What is your favorite food?: NY style Pizza followed by a fresh, chilled Honey Crisp Apple
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: Spending time with my family and baking!
