Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have always worked with children in some capacity. I have helped been others as a nanny, preschool teacher, and preschool director. I think I have a true understanding of this fragile time in a new families life and can sense what their needs are and step in when needed. I am a member of the Association of Infant Mental Health, NAEYC, and many more organizations that focus on infants and their well-being.
What led you to become a Doula?: My own personal postpartum time is one that I wish I had had more help available. I fee that I am called to help women transition into this amazing role in a way that creates calm, fulfilling, and meaningful memories for the entire family. I truly believe that my job as a doula is to be there in any capacity I am needed to make sure that the entire family heals.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
I tend to hear that am passionate, outgoing, dedicated, real, and easy to relate to.
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: I’m a huge fan of podcasts! The local La Leche League is another great resource. zerotothree.org is also incredibly insightful. I try to keep myself up to date and I’m friend through a variety of mediums.
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: I get so excited! The thoughts in my head pertaining to how I can assist this person and what anxieties might be creeping up for them.
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: The best gift I can give is the empowerment that comes with knowing you are strong and capable of taking care of your new addition(s). I bring laughter, and honesty to all of my situations in a way that is personable and caring.
What is your favorite TV show or movie?: My favorite movies are all the Harry Potter ones. I love true crime, mystery, and Brooklyn 99.
What is your favorite place to vacation?: Breckinridge, Colorado. We love the mountains and they never get less magical.
What is your favorite food?: Vietnamese! Vuis kitchen is THE best.
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: My favorite way to spend a day off is spending time at a few local restaurants, getting in quality reading time, and listening to some live music!
Who lives in your house?: My husband, son (2 years), and our dog. We’re a small, but mighty bunch!
