Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have my bachelor and master`s degrees in child development. I have been a nanny and babysitter for numerous families with infants and toddlers for the last 7 years and have really learned how to support the whole family unit. I take on-going trainings to stay up to date on various areas such as best practices in early childhood development, sleep training, car seat safety, managing multiples, and postpartum and infant care.

What led you to become a Doula?: I became interested in birth work after taking a newborn care specialist training and being inspired to continue my education to learn more about not only just the newborn but about the mother, father, parent(s), and whole family unit during the postpartum period in order to best support them. I found that work with newborns is not just about the newborns but about the whole family unit as all parties in the family are affected pre and post birth of a newborn in multiple ways.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

People have told me I have such positive energy, am super hard working, and that I am the baby whisperer.

What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?:

What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: The thoughts that come to my mind are how they must be filled with so many emotions combined and that I hope they all have support systems in place or that they know how to seek help out when needed as being pregnant and having a new baby can be hard and tiring physically and mentally.

What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: The best gift I can give new parents as a birth worker is peace of mind, the opportunity to sleep and rest, and evidence based education to support them throughout the entire time I’m working with them.

What is your favorite TV show or movie?: Not a big TV and movie show person but if I had to pick one it would probably be Full House or This is Us

What is your favorite place to vacation?: Outer Banks, NC and San Diego, CA

What is your favorite food?: Mac and cheese

What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: My favorite way to spend a day off is by going to visit my family / friends! I enjoy catching up with them and playing games!

Who lives in your house?: I live with my fiancée and cat currently!
