Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I worked with patients in the dental field for over 5 years and it’s taught me a lot. Learning how nervous people get when they go into surgery and knowing what to do to ensure they are comfortable and at ease. This is really my desire for wanting to work with mothers giving birth, because we all need that support person on our side to guide us through the process.

What led you to become a Doula?: I attended the birth of my two nephews and I was already acting as a doula for my sister not even knowing this career existed. It felt very natural to me to step into this position of making my sister feel comfortable and giving her the motivation she needed to birth two healthy baby boys. It was at this moment I knew I wanted to become a doula.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

Many times Midwives and Nurses in the labor and delivery room would comment to me saying I need to come into this field. They would say they need more people like me that can provide a flowing peaceful environment; my ability to remain calm and not being squeamish is a great quality to have.
