Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I am mother of three who had three very different birth experiences. In a hospital with a doctor and an epidural and naturally with a midwife in a birth centre. I have breastfed all three of my own babies and I have bottle fed all three of my babies as well. In my professional previous career I displayed a high degree of professionalism and proved my ability to foster strong working relationships with stakeholders. I have always proven I am passionate about my work!
What led you to become a Doula?: I love all things birth and babies! The turning point for me was being beside one of my best friends for the birth of her premature baby girl. I knew I wanted to make a career change and this incredible experience was the push I needed.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
I am always quick to offer help, no matter what. I am incredibly loyal, always investing in relationships. Reliability and commitment, I always see things through. I am open to listening to opinions/advice, and find it easy to see things from others’ perspectives. I have an amazing positive outlook on life.
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: www.kellymom.com; www.askdrsears.com; The Happiest Baby on the Block (Harvey Karp); The Five Love Languages of Children (Gary Chapman); Beyond The Sling (Mayim Bialik)

I hope that she has positive support from all those around her and I wish her luck through this next transition in her life. And I wonder, does she know how amazing a postpartum doula can be?
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: Confidence. You are enough! Letting her take the lead and validating that whatever decisions she is making for her and her family, they are the right ones. Supporting her where she is at, without judgment, no matter what.
