Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have always worked closely with families and children through church ministries growing up. having a doula with the birth of my son and birthing my child gave me the experience i had hoped for, and can now relate to other families wanting their own version of their perfect birth.
What led you to become a Doula?: My entire life i have been labeled as compassionate, and encouraging. I try and lead with those values in every area of my life. having become a mother myself, I know how vital those attributes can be during the new transition in mothers and families. I adore working hand in hand in what I think are some of the most important moments during the transition from pregnancy to birth and after.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
I am very detail oriented, and when a task is presented I accomplish that first, before anything else. I am compassionate to the core. I am encouraging in every area of life and always try to find the silver lining.
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: I love the blog pregnantchicken.com, Pinterest, and reading amazon reviews on baby products
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: Complete adoration. It is by far the most amazing time in a woman's life. my Second thought is, I hope she is taking a moment to remember every little detail. I didn't have that during my new mom phase, and it passed by in the blink of an eye. I wish I had someone telling me to enjoy even the not so easy moments. Because life passes us all by so fast!!
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: My attention. my care, compassion, and heart.
What is your favorite TV show or movie?: This Is Us....I don't know why though, I torture myself every single episode - just waiting on the moment of tears
What is your favorite place to vacation?: Mexico
What is your favorite food?: Mexican
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: With my son. There is literally no greater joy in life for me, than just being in his presence.
Who lives in your house?: My son, and my schnauzer yorkie mix Remi
