Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: Being a mother of 2 boys, both with NICU stays, has been a huge influence on the work I do as a doula.
What led you to become a Doula?: My own birth and postpartum experiences and seeing that there was a gap to be filled when it came to labor and postpartum support led me to birth work. My NICU stays with my boys were filled with a lot of unknowns and uncertainties, but we had family living with us at the time that took care of the everyday tasks so we didn't have to. I don't know what we would have done without them and I don't want others to lack that support either. It has become a passion of mine to link arms with other women to help them feel supported in the choices they make in the prenatal and postpartum period and the overwhelm that can come along with bringing a new baby home.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
| I am often told how sensitive I am to what others are feeling, and put others needs before my own. I am referred to as sweet and caring and I love how each of my clients so far have been so surprised by what doula support has added to their births! |
