Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: English/Spanish Fluency, Education in Intercultural Communication, ServSafe Certification

What led you to become a Doula?: I was moved to serve women as a doula after my own experience with antenatal and postpartum depression. In that time, I found myself feeling incredibly alone, misunderstood, and unsupported. I wanted to badly to have someone available to me with whom I could share openly about the thoughts and feelings I had without fear of judgment or breech of privacy. I knew that if I was experiencing this, there was someone else out there facing the same struggle. I decided to specialize in prenatal education and postpartum support which allows me to help my clients feel as prepared as possible to have their babies, as well as the ability to welcome them on the other side of childbirth with encouragement and helpful hands.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

I mostly hear that I am ambitious, friendly, patient, and genuine. I am most frequently complimented on my level-headedness, my ability to communicate well, and my ability to maintain neutrality. Also, I’m known to make people laugh – so that’s a plus!

What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: The AAP, ACOG, numerous printed resources and a hefty dose of mother’s intuition are all incredibly valuable to me as a parent, and I recommend them to almost everyone.

What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: My thought tends to be the same: “I hope that she has all of the support and encouragement that she needs to know just how capable and qualified she is for motherhood.”

What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: Sincerity. Many new moms are incredibly conscious of what people say to and about them regarding motherhood and parenting. By offering kind words, unwavering support, and genuine thoughts I build a sincere relationship with my clients – one where they know without a shadow of a doubt that I am present for them and believe in them wholeheartedly.

What is your favorite TV show or movie?: My current favorite movie is a French flick titled “The Intouchables.” It’s guaranteed to give you #allthefeels. As for TV, I love anything written by Shonda Rhimes, the History channel, and documentaries.

What is your favorite place to vacation?: I enjoy quick weekend trips to cities across the United States. The scenery surrounding Denver, Colorado is beautiful and makes me happy. I’d love to visit Cordoba, Spain or the Greek Islands one day!

What is your favorite food?: Ethiopian cuisine is at the top of my list! Brazilian cuisine is a close second, and anything with carbs will always receive the thumbs up from me.

What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: My favorite way to spend my day off is either Netflix binging with a glass of something tasty, snuggling with my littles, or treating myself to a bit of self-care. I tend to spend my down time alone or with family.

Who lives in your house?: In my house you’ll find me and my husband + three very spirited and lovable children.
