Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: In addition to attending Doula training at Bastyr University near Seattle, I regularly attend continuing education classes and workshops and stay up-to-date on topics that pertain to birth, infant care, the postpartum period, and infant feeding. I feel grateful to have created a successful doula business that has been serving families in the Walla Walla Valley since 2014.
What led you to become a Doula?: I have always been in awe of our ability to create and birth, and am forever amazed by the changes that occur in our bodies, minds, and souls when we become parents. Like many of us birth workers, the birth of my daughter layered on a new level of fascination and understanding when it comes to the process of education and the process of becoming a parent. It is one of my greatest life joys to be a part of this journey with other families.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
Here are some excerpts from client testimonials (you can find the full comments on my website here: http://www.intuitivepathbirth.com/doula-love-notes/ ) “You radiate positivity and authenticity everywhere you go! You inspire me to be a courageous mother who trusts my intuition.” — “When we were both exhausted and ready to cave, your coaching and encouragement got us through.” — “We are so happy with our overall birthing journey largely because of Christina. The rawness of childbirth was easy for us to share with her and we feel forever bonded with Christina!” — “Having Christina in the room changed the whole trajectory of my labor. Before she came, I was having an increasingly difficult time; after she came, her suggestions and help made me able to tolerate labor and have the labor/delivery experience I (and my partner) hoped for. I would absolutely recommend hiring Christina to other new moms!!” — “Between various coping methods for the pain and her talking me through it when I just wanted to give up, I made it through and was rewarded with the most beautiful gift, my baby boy. I can’t wait to use Christina in the future for all of my babies!” — “She is a thoughtful, respectful mother and friend who reassures me and boosts my confidence on days when it’s tough to be a parent. Her innate ability to listen and internalize others’ words before giving advice consistently amazes me. She is hard working, nurturing and insightful in all the best ways.”
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: Penny Simkin's book, Pregnancy, Childbirth and the Newborn -- and for the postpartum period, Perinatal Support of Washington (www.perinatalsupport.org)
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: I hope they have whatever support they need to feel confident in their own ability to birth and parent their baby. I hope she's experiencing the joy and love that can come from pregnancy and new parenthood, and I also hope that if she's experiencing the challenging side of things that she knows she's not alone!
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: Experience, empathy, and judgement-free support and guidance.

What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: Reading! Either somewhere outside in the fresh air, or tucked into a comfy chair inside somewhere cozy.
