Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I am a Certified Medical Assistant and worked in a pediatric clinic for 2 years. I have also been a nanny on and off for a total of 8 years. I am an assistant CPR/First Aid instructor for a family owned Training Company. I also spent many years volunteering in the nursery at my Church and was in a leadership role there. My true passion in life is working with infants and new parents by giving them the resources they need to make informed decisions, and being an unbiased listening ear.

What led you to become a Doula?: In 2013, an acquaintance from high school asked me to accompany her during her pregnancy, birth and postpartum time. She had very little support and resources so it was important to her to have someone that could be with her the entire duration of that time. Little did I know back then, but there is a job title for that and it's a DOULA! I didn't come to this realization until a couple years ago, but after learning about this profession, I haven't wanted to pursue anything else! I am so excited to continue to support families and hope to make a difference in their lives!

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

People often describe me as calm and collected. I can walk into a chaotic situation, and not be phased by it. I have been told that I am a good listener, and observe what needs to be done in the moment. People often describe me as a “baby whisperer” and can usually find a resolution to difficult situations. They say I am organized and known as the “mom” of my friend group because I hold everyone and everything together.
