What led you to become a Doula?: I have always had a desire to work with children and families and after being in the classroom for 9 years, staying home with my own children for 9 years and doing various work with women and children in between, I wanted to pursue a new career but still serving the same population and working with women to ensure their postpartum health and wellness is progressing well and helping them to navigate all the many unknowns of having a newborn, is what I have found delight in.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
I have a calm, genuine, and caring demeanor. I am reliable and trustworthy and transparent. I will do whatever necessary to ensure that others get the services or information they need to help themselves or someone else.
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: The American Association of Pregnancy, Childbirth Connection, Evidence Based Birth, and women who have gone through pregnancy. Also labor and delivery nurses, midwives, and providers willing to meet or talk with me
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: My first thought is does she have a support system and does she know her rights?
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: The truth and support
What is your favorite TV show or movie?: I like to watch Antenna TV
What is your favorite place to vacation?: The mountains
What is your favorite food?: Mexican and Mediterranean
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: Reading a good book, listening to my favorite music, baking or cooking at my leisure and a trip to my favorite restaurant for a goodie.
Who lives in your house?: My husband Ben, sons Carsten and Soren, daughters Zoe and Gabrie and my labradoodle Winston, cat Hawkeye, and bearded dragon Ethan
