Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I began to gain knowledge and experience by being a mentor and support person to my friends and family as they experienced pregnancy, birth and motherhood. I am constantly reading, learning and discussing ways I can better support women during this time.

What led you to become a Doula?: I discovered my passion to support mothers and their partners after the birth of my first child.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

Kind, thoughtful, supportive, natural caretaker, passionate

What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: A few favorites are Evidence Based Birth, KellyMom.com, and my fellow peers.

What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: "I wonder what is on her mind." "I'd love to chat with you!"

What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: Reassurance. So many new mom's second guess themselves and it's nice to be reassured that they are providing excellent care for their newborn. Also, a listening ear. Everyone just needs to talk sometimes without feeling the pressure of unsolicited advice.

What is your favorite TV show or movie?: Friends

What is your favorite place to vacation?: Hands down, Walt Disney World!

What is your favorite food?: I could live on soup and bread!

What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: The perfect day is always spent with my family. We enjoy going to interactive children's places, such as the Philadelphia Zoo, the Camden Aquarium or the Garden State Discovery Museum. We love to turn off our electronics and eat dinner together as a family.

Who lives in your house?: Our household is always chaotic in the best way! My husband, Bill and I have two boys- Liam (4) and Jameson (2). Throw in 2 dogs, 2 cats and a fish tank and we've got ourselves a full house.
