Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I worked as a nanny for 10 years, offering extensive support of babies & families. This has long been my passion, however it was administrative work in an OB/GYN practice that really made me see my passion for the whole process of the pregnancy, childbirth & Postpartum period driving me to see that my years of supporting families & my knowledge and experiences in the office could merge for one amazing career.
What led you to become a Doula?: I have always been a very supportive person for all people in my life. Supporting new families as a nanny and working in an OB practice really lead me to this work.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
You were made to be a doula. You make people from newborn to the elderly feel safe and comforted.
You are so lucky, you are in the best of hands (from a OB/GYN doctor to a client I was supporting)
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: ACOG, AAP, The Birth Partner
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: I hope they are feeling well and safe and have the support that they need.
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: Reassurance that they are doing a great job, and options/education for them for pregnancy and parenting.
What is your favorite TV show or movie?: The Office
What is your favorite place to vacation?: The White Mountains and Ireland.
What is your favorite food?: Cheese pizza...bar style...yum!
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: Start the day with a peaceful meditation and yoga session, a nice long walk outside (even in the worst of new england weather) good food, and spending some time with people I love!
Who lives in your house?: Myself & my husband, Liam.
