Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I am a certified, professional labor and postpartum doula and childbirth educator supporting families in the Metro Atlanta area for almost a decade. At my core, I am a caregiver from a long line of caregivers. I am attentive, supportive, and encouraging. My goal is to foster an environment in which women and families can feel safe, secure, and empowered during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.
What led you to become a Doula?: I was invited to sit with a friend during her labor until her boyfriend arrived. I found myself, instinctually and intuitively, doing things for her that I would have wanted someone do for me. When he arrived and I prepared to leave, she said, “Noooo! Don’t leave me!” I stayed with her through the birth of her son and it was the most beautiful thing I had ever witnessed. I knew then that it was my purpose in life to support women during pregnancy and birth. I didn’t know what that would look like and had never heard of a doula at that point, but I was ready to put a plan in place to get started.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
“She was understanding and at the same time firm with me so I didn’t give up.”
“She is encouraging, sweet, funny, and down to earth which are characteristics I looked for and needed in a doula.”
“Attentive. Calm. Encouraging. Giver of Ice Chips. Holder of my Head. Reader of Texts from My Husband. Fanner. Doula.“
“She is courteous, friendly, strong, calm, knowledgeable, confident, intelligent, intuitive, experienced, well prepared, supportive, thoughtful, kind – a glowing and caring soul full of positivity with a sincere and personal committed to each client/family for which she works.“
