Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: For 14 years I worked in a medical office as a clinical aide. I assisted in minor surgeries and procedures. In 2012 I became a reiki master to better help those in my community through healing touch therapy. In 2019 I received training through DONA International for labor doula. In August of 2020 I received training for birth basics for doulas through DONA International. In September of 2020 I started the process toward becoming a certified birth educator.
What led you to become a Doula?: My own experiences with pregnancy motivated me to learn as much as I could. My passion to help expecting parents lead me toward the path of becoming a doula. After having my own baby, my appreciation for doula work greatly increased as I now first handedly understand the power of a strong support system when giving birth.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
I have been told by others that my presence is very calming and grounding. When I first expressed my desire to change career paths and become a doula after 14 years in the medical field, my associates were incredibly encouraging and expressed I would be perfect in assisting expecting families.
