Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: For about a year and half or so prior to getting my certification, I was a birth photographer (as I still am.) I have always grown up loving babies and the thought of being a mom. I am also a wedding photographer. Relationships, savoring moments, and love will always be so important to me.
What led you to become a Doula?: I am happiest when I am encouraging women and helping them to see how strong and powerful they are. Birth is absolutely incredible and helps me to understand life itself. Being able to help a woman see her strength while reaching depths of herself she never knew existed and helping to guide her through her options for when she gives birth is beyond rewarding.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
A review from a past client I did birth photography for, ” What I didn’t realize at that time was how incredibly caring and compassionate Faith is and how dedicated she is to her work. Faith came to the hospital as soon as it was time and was so kind and encouraging to me throughout labor. I honestly couldn’t imagine having anyone else there with me for this special moment in my life. If I ever have another baby, I wouldn’t hire anyone besides Faith and I HIGHLY recommend her.”
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: Two of my favorite pregnancy resources are childbirth classes and the book called, "Pregnancy Childbirth and the Newborn the complete guide."
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: When I see a pregnant woman I feel curious and happy inside. I wonder if she is being fully supported by those around her or if she is nervous about this new chapter of life coming. But overall I am happy for her because I know she has so much joy coming to her and her family.
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: The best gift I can give to new parents as a birth worker is offering my unbiased perspective. I have never had a child of my own but am so passionate about helping women and families through this big life transition. With never having a child of my own I will never be one to compare you to my own experience. I believe everyone's experience and your baby's story is unique to them and should be treated as such. I will always be one to encourage, reassure, and share my knowledge with you.
What is your favorite TV show or movie?: La La Land and so many more.
What is your favorite place to vacation?: Aruba or Europe!
What is your favorite food?: Aruba or Europe!
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: My favorite way to spend a day off is to travel, road trip, go to the beach, or explore new towns and coffee shops.
Who lives in your house?: My sister and I live together.
