Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: With a bachelor of science in physiology, I have a greater holistic understanding of the body from the inside out. I am very empathetic and have a huge heart for babies and women, and dream of finding occupation where women and child healthcare intersect with social justice work.
What led you to become a Doula?: Sometime in middle school, I dissected a chicken and became fascinated with the reproductive system. This fascination only grew as I studied anatomy and physiology in high school. Since then, I've completed a bachelor of science in physiology, and plan to pursue a masters of science in midwifery! One of the prerequisites for the graduate program is labor doula training. Which brought me to ProDoula!
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
Very personable, approachable, and friendly. Sincerely loves people, and is comfortable interacting with all sorts.
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: Pregnancy subscription boxes, in my opinion, are one of the best things since sliced bread! Depending on the company, these lovely packages come to your doorstep by month-to month, 3, 6 or 9 month subscriptions, chalked with full-sized products specifically designed for the stage of pregnancy you are in at that time. They are a great resource to help expecting or new moms feel pampered and prepared without leaving the house! A few of these brilliant brands even tout having boxes "pregnancy through preschool."
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: Glee! I wonder what her birth plans are like, hope that she's enjoying pregnancy, and I grin from ear to ear while trying not to act too creepy.
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: More time/opportunity to enjoy the process.
What is your favorite TV show or movie?: This Is Us
What is your favorite place to vacation?: Lake Tahoe, California
What is your favorite food?: Sweet Potato Fries
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: Mountain biking with my hubby.
Who lives in your house?: Myself, my wonderful husband and our plant-babies.
