Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I am culturally and ethnically diverse, personally, and in experience and knowledge. I invest in continued education and have been active in the birth community for 5 years.

What led you to become a Doula?: I love working with babies, supporting parents and encouraging them to "trust their gut" and themselves to gain the self-confidence to be the best parents they can be!

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

That I am wise, thoughtful, and caring.

What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: kveller.com, kellymom.com, "Happiest Baby on the Block" by Harvey Karp, MD., and "The Baby Whisperer" by Tracy Hogg.

What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: Does she know about postpartum doulas?

What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: Non-judgmental support ("you do you") and the time for self-care.

What is your favorite TV show or movie?: I really don't have a favorite. Book? "The Red Tent" by Anita Diamant.

What is your favorite place to vacation?: Anywhere tropical with white sandy beaches. I love the ocean!

What is your favorite food?: Sushi.

What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: Sleeping in (rarely, if possible), arts and crafts with my children, and making my own, natural apothecary.

Who lives in your house?: My husband, Brian, our 3 youngest children, (ages 8, 6, and 4 years old) our cat, Mushkila (Arabic for "little trouble"), to include my college-aged daughter and 16 year old son during school breaks and summer.
