Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: Early Childhood Education Specialist holding a dual endorsement including ZA and Literacy with a K-8 Professional Level Teaching Certificate. Presently teaching my 18th year within the Public School System. Three years of Overnight Postpartum care experience.
What led you to become a Doula?: Babies have been my favorite for as long as I can remember. Welcoming my four children into the world only solidified my desire to assist woman and families in making pregnancy, and postpartum a fond memory and a peaceful transition.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
I have been so fortunate to work with the most amazing families. Their words give me ALL the feels…Most recently a client wrote, “Dearest Jen, You have been a light during this time. My mind and heart often reflect on the fun stories and advice you share. We couldn’t have done it without you. Thank-you and we treasure you.”
Another client wrote, “As a first time mom, Jennifer has been invaluable to our family. Not only is she flexible and professional, but she is also a wealth of knowledge and has helped us to better understand our baby’s temperament and his individual needs. It takes a village, and everyone should have Jennifer in theirs!”
Lastly, another family wrote, “Jen has been a lifesaver. She has been great with our children, especially implementing a schedule to help them sleep through the night. Many of our friends still don’t have children who sleep through the night months after ours started to. Our kids love her and we have been grateful to have her for both of our kids.”

What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: Excitement! Becoming a mom is the ultimate game changer, having the opportunity to nurture new mama's and families while facilitating along their journey is an absolute privilege.
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: Peace of mind. I love building relationships with the families I work with. I do my best to provide uniquely differentiated care that meets the needs of each family.
What is your favorite TV show or movie?: Mystery, HGTV, DIY.
What is your favorite place to vacation?: Gulf Shores or Northern MI.
What is your favorite food?: Avocado Toast
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: You would find me cheering on one of my four kiddos in their sports. I love announcing at USA swim meets, traveling to Lacrosse tournaments or swim meets. Our family all loves to root on our alma mater, the MSU Spartans during Fall tailgates or Winter B-Ball games at the Breslin Center. I love taking walks around Reeds Lake with my husband, and my Peloton bike is my favorite way to break a sweat.
Who lives in your house?: My husband, Kirk and I, along with our four kids- Maya~8th grade, Adalae~6th grade, Riston~ 4th grade and Nash~2nd grade
