Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have worked in health care, in the legal field, and in childcare. These experiences have taught me professionalism, identifying needs and working to meet them, empathy and compassion.
What led you to become a Doula?: I have always been fascinated by pregnancy and birth. Initially I thought that I would become a labor and delivery nurse, but I realized that nursing was not the route that I wanted to pursue. I hired a doula for my first pregnancy. My labor was a traumatic one, and she helped me to get through it and to cope with my feelings. I wanted to be there to support other women through their pregnancies, and so I became a labor doula.
