Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have a degree in Maternal and Child Health, MPH as well as a BS in Community Health Education. I have spent the last few years focusing on maternal health and the role birth workers play.
What led you to become a Doula?: I have always had an interest in moms and babies. I originally wanted to become an OB then a midwife, but plans changed a bit.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
That I am a joy to be around. I am a great listener. I am personable and easy to love.
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: The mothers and fathers around you are best for first hand experiences. I am also a fan of evidenced based information.
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: Congratulations! And they probably need a nap!
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: My time, my services. A listening ear.
What is your favorite TV show or movie?: Grey's Anatomy, Avatar: The Last Airbender
What is your favorite place to vacation?: Hard to choose. I love to travel. Somewhere I could spend time with my loved ones.
What is your favorite food?: Sushi! Or salmon. Or breakfast food. . .
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: With my family, a short road trip, or with a book.
Who lives in your house?: My husband, my dog and I.
