Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have a bachelor's degree in Human Development with an emphasis Child Life (offering support to children and their families in pediatric health care settings) and am also a La Leche League Leader.

What led you to become a Doula?: I became interested in doula because my mom was a childbirth educator and I was constantly surrounded by birth! It felt like home to pursue it for me career.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

I have a calm demeanor and can quickly work to de-escalate stressful situations. I work hard and can help others see the best in themselves.

What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: My favorite pregnancy resource is Evidence Based Birth! For parenting questions later on in your child's life I recommend using Aha!Parenting as quick reference guide.

What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: When I see pregnant people or a family with a new baby I always hope that they are getting the support they need during the enormous transition to parenthood.

What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: The best gift I can offer new parents is to listen, understand and support them where they are.

What is your favorite TV show or movie?: Parks and Rec

What is your favorite place to vacation?: Any beach

What is your favorite food?: Curries of all types

What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: I love to read, hike, work on my fixer-upper house and to exercise.

Who lives in your house?: I live with my husband, Simon, two young daughters, Elouise and Susannah, and our dog, Ranger.
