Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: After taking my initial birth doula training in 2015, I accepted a full time position in Labor & Delivery as a Patient Care Tech. My vast experiences serving women and families in that role have uniquely prepared me to support birthing people
What led you to become a Doula?: My own birth experiences are what initially drew me to birth work. The ability to watch women seize their power, step up to challenges, and conquer what they couldn’t imagine is what keeps me here.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
A midwife of a client I supported at a very “doula un-friendly” hospital once said, “I am so glad YOU were there for them.” That’s one I won’t forget!
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: My favorite book to recommend is “Ancient Map for Modern Birth” by Pam England.
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: I think of the many great struggles and triumphs they have on the horizon. I think of the unsurpassed joy their world is about to be filled with.
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: The best gift I can give new parents is the gift of truly unbiased support. So many people in parents lives see a pregnancy bump or newborn in arms as a free ticket to share opinions, outdated advice, or maybe just the first thing that pops into their head. Instead, what I give to my clients is the space and confidence to make informed decisions for the way YOU want to birth and parent, and the unconditional support to see those goals to fruition.
What is your favorite TV show or movie?: “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop to look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
What is your favorite place to vacation?: I love coming back to visit beautiful Colorado. If there’s camping involved also, even better!
What is your favorite food?: Absolutely cannot say no to Indian food or hot pho on a chilly day!
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: Nature. Coffee. Reading. Rinse and repeat.
Who lives in your house?: Myself, my husband, 3 unruly kiddos, and our big fluffy Newfoundland puppy, Bunny. There’s a whole lot of love (and noise)!
