Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: *
What led you to become a Doula?: When I was asked to be present for the birth of my best friends first child I was honored and curious at the same time. What would I do? How in the world would I be useful? Her husband and Doula were both present as well and I... I felt like "I carried the watermelon"! But that was the day that I learned what a Doula was and that I have been one my whole life! I never realized that my natural gifts of encouragement and supportiveness were the foundation of the Doula profession!
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: *
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: *
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: I think the best gift to new parents as a birth worker is positive encouragement. I think most new parents need to hear that they are already doing a good job! That they are providing exactly what their baby needs and the rest will come with time. I also believe that all new parents have different needs and as a Doula I am flexible and willing to help in ways that support them being the best parents they can be. It may not always be predictable, and that's ok!
What is your favorite TV show or movie?: *
What is your favorite place to vacation?: The mountains... especially Colorado!
What is your favorite food?: Anything with lots of cheese!
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: Usually I like to spend days off with friends or nearby relatives. I am naturally more of a go-go-go kind of person but I also enjoy reading and relaxing in our hot-tub and being creative.
Who lives in your house?: My hilarious husband Ben and his mini-me, our son, Jackson and until recently our sassy daughter Quinn. I include her because we are still storing things she "may want sometime down the road". That counts right? We have a few cats and 2 sweet doggies who also sleep on our furniture so I will mention them as well!
