Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I grew up hearing stories from my mother and aunts about breastfeeding & natural birthing, and the strength that comes from within that's deeply rooted in our souls when we bring new life into the world. Becoming a mother quite young at 23, I drew from their stories and that of my own birth to deliver my 2 children in the way that I wished, in the water with my husband by my side. I've been listening intently to those who have birthed, knowing now almost 20 years later that all births are beautiful, and unique experiences each and every time. I am inspired by the novel "The Red Tent" and the incredible support that the women gave to each other through their processes of becoming women, and birthing their babies. We've become a bit too self sufficient in our modern era, and there's so much fear surrounding birth. My desire is to love on, help release some of that fear, and support birthing women and their families during one of their most vulnerable times. It would be an honor to be so intimately included. I also bring to the table experience and training as a Yoga Teacher (200hr YTT) and Reiki Master, giving me a special insight into the sacred beauty of touch, vibrational healing and knowledge of the physical body.

What led you to become a Doula?: Since birthing both my daughter and son, having been a mother now to them for almost 20 years (as of 2020) I have been declaring that as soon as the space was provided I would become a Doula. I have been called to do so, from deep within my soul. Perhaps it's an ancestral calling, perhaps it's my love of getting my hands on a body and using reiki and touch to bring relief. I just know that I not only want to do this work, but I need to do this work, and am honored to be able to call myself a Birth Worker.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

* Positive * Graceful * Calm * Patient * Strong Hands for Massage * Open Minded * Led by Love * Gentle *
