What led you to become a Doula?: When they asked back in grade school what I wanted to be when I grew up I answered, Cliff Huxtable. I loved the idea of taking care of women and babies and found myself on a career path doing just that in various clinical roles however it wasn’t until I became a mother I realized the impact and need of continuous judgment-free and informed care outside of prenatal visits and delivery and in that moment I decided to become a doula.

That I have such a loving way of approaching issues and an incredible understanding of maternal/infant health.

What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: My initial thoughts are to smile, compliment them on doing a great job and ask how can I be of service. I believe we need to change the narrative around what it means to have a new baby, it’s ok to ask for help. It takes a community.
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: The best gift I can give is a listening ear and reassurance. People need to be heard, their feelings validated, and reassurance that they are doing things well.
What is your favorite TV show or movie?: Sweeney Todd, I’m a sucker for a musical or a any Disney film
What is your favorite place to vacation?: Anywhere tropical, the Bahamas, or Mexico thus far
What is your favorite food?: Pizza, tacos, fries
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: On my days off you can catch me at a local thrift shop, doing hot yoga, eating ice cream, or at target. I enjoy spending time with my mom friends, having game nights, and an occasional glass of wine, popcorn, and Netflix
Who lives in your house?: My two young children.
