Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have always had a passion for newborns and birth. It is also in my nature to share my knowledge with others so that they can have their own best experience. I strive to make family, friends and clients feel listened to and supported, no matter where they are coming from. It is natural for me to have an open mind and open heart.

What led you to become a Doula?: After my own two birth experiences and having a labor doula for my VBAC, I realized first-hand how important extra support really was, simply having someone I trusted to give me an encouraging smile in the hardest moments was just what was needed. This inspired me to pursue birth work as a doula which also evolved into absolutely loving helping families in the transition of bringing baby home and the postpartum period.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

“When you are here it is like a fairy came to visit!” – postpartum client

What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: The Birth Partner, Wellness Mama, Ina May Childbirth & Breastfeeding, Kellymom, The Ultimate Guide to Breastfeeding, The Informed Parent.

What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: Joy! I want to just let every pregnant woman or brand new mom that they are incredible and give them a dose of encouragement and help them explore all the choices and options they do have to make this their own unique experience.

What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: Whatever they need in the sense of support! I've learned that different new moms need different things. Sometimes it's a nap and shower, sometimes it's company while they navigate their new baby and new routine, sometimes it's someone to be there for their baby so they can take care of other aspects of their life.

What is your favorite TV show or movie?: Honestly, I could pass on TV!

What is your favorite place to vacation?: Anywhere where I can enjoy the beauty of the outdoors and nature! Best place to be is by the water! The fewer tourists the better!

What is your favorite food?: Dark chocolate!

What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: With my boys, preferably on the lake or outside, and having coffee with people I care about!

Who lives in your house?: My wonderful husband and two adventurous young boys!
