Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I am new in the birth work world, but am so excited to be a part of it! I just recently completed my labor and birth training. I am so excited to get started and provide support and comfort to my clients!

What led you to become a Doula?: I discovered that I was interested in birth work when I was fortunate enough to get to be a part of my friend's labor experience. I greatly enjoyed getting to be there to support her and her husband and it gets to share the amazing experience with them!

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

Positive comments that others have made about me: I am kind and compassionate, I am a hard worker, I go the extra step, and I am a good listener.

What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: I love reading blogs of other women who are going through or who have gone through the things that I have experienced through pregnancy and parenting. My family is and has been one of my favorite resources when I have questions.

What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: When I see a pregnant woman I get excited for them, because I remember being at that stage. I remember the little kicks and hiccups that my daughter would get and the joy of rubbing my belly and talking to her. To get to see someone else get to experience that joy makes me really happy and excited for that woman. When I see a person with a newborn some of the same feelings occur. Excitement for the adventure that the new parent is beginning and remembering my daughter being that size.

What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: I think that as a birth worker the best gift I can give new parents is making sure they know that they can do it! Being a parent is one the scariest things I have ever done. At the same time it is the most amazing adventure that I have ever been on. Letting new parents know that whatever they are feeling is normal. Being scared is normal, being unsure is normal. Feeling frustrated is normal! Also, making sure they are able to surround themselves with a great support system.

What is your favorite TV show or movie?: Tangled

What is your favorite place to vacation?: Wherever my family is!

What is your favorite food?: Mexican!

What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: My favorite way to spend a day off is snuggling on the couch with my daughter and husband watching movies and tv shows. I also really enjoy going for drives or getting together with family and have a board game day.

Who lives in your house?: My husband and I share our home with our beautiful little girl.
