Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: The doula field has been calling me my entire life, wherever the babies were, that's where you would find me. This passion for childcare would lead me to start babysitting as a young teen and transitioning into nannying as a young adult. Nannying is where I eventually decided that I wanted to take this passion and make it a career. I worked in childcare for 8 years before transitioning into Doula work.
What led you to become a Doula?: I have always had a passion to serve but never knew where it fit in my life, learning about Doulas piqued my interest and during my training, I really was able to sit back and say "Yup, this is what I'm meant to be doing."
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
My past nanny families have commented many times on my patience and loving demeanor.
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: I love learning from other doulas and referencing the American Pregnancy Association.
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: Most people would jump to thinking how exciting it might be, and yes while it is definitely an exciting time, I always wonder how they are really feeling and if they have the support they need while adjusting to this new dynamic.
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: I love offering meals and household help!
