Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: Before choosing to become a doula, I spent eight years practicing emergency medicine and have a total of twelve years of experience working in healthcare and healthcare administration. I have been a volunteer firefighter, a medic and a soldier, an instructor, a student, and a yoga teacher. I am currently studying healthcare administration and policy. I have been a leader and a follower. I understand the importance of meeting people where they are to accomplish shared goals. My desire to serve others is still great through all the years of growth and learning I have accomplished. If you'd like to know more, please ask away.

What led you to become a Doula?: After my time in the military, I left the medical field feeling burnt out. I spent a year in school seeking a new career. During that year several different people from different walks of life came to me seeking help, or seeking friendship. They shared their lives and stories surrounding their pregnancies, miscarriages and more. After several of these shared experiences I felt a deep calling to work with birthing people to support and advocate for their healthcare in an often overwhelming system. I am only at the beginning of my journey here, and I am so excited to learn from and share with many more families.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

I am told that I’m easy to talk to, and that I am good at fighting for what I want. I also feel I am approachable, since several of the people mentioned above, were complete strangers.
