Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: Offering support to women in pregnancy though encouragement and foot rubs!
What led you to become a Doula?: I have been interested in birth since I was a little girl. I have always been fascinated by the process of labor and babies coming into this world. After the birth of my first child, I saw how truly remarkable my own body was as a woman to carry and deliver a child and I have been forever changed by it. I think that labor and birth can be such an empowering experience and it is truly all left up to our mindset about it. You are powerful and beautiful and doing the most precious thing a human can do, grow and birth another person.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
“This is something that I have always seen Lindie as capable of doing, she fits so naturally into the Doula role!”
“I have felt so supported by Lindie through my pregnancy with the insights and motivation, she has made me feel capable to do this.”
“Lindie really has always been a doula. She has always been the friend that supported her other friends by being there for them and listening to them when they need support or advice.”
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: I think that it is fantastic that we live in an age now where there are endless resources for your pregnancy and parenting choices. My go to resource that I suggest is starting to trust your "Mom Gut". Its real, its in there, and you have to start trusting it and fostering it in yourself to parent in the way that will feel genuine and correct to YOU.
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: When I see someone pregnant I think " Wow, look at what you are doing! What a gift and look how beautifully you are carrying life!" It is not a simple thing to get pregnant and to carry a baby to full term, it should be revered. You are a glowing fertility goddess and should be treated as such! Seriously, have a party! When I see someone who has a brand new baby I get all the warm fuzzy, baby fever, maternal feelings! It is such a precious time with a newborn! And yes being cliche, it does go by so fast! So breath deep that new baby smell and take it all in. Oh, and sleep if you can!
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: I think that the best gift that I can give to new parents is the encouragement that they can trust their parenting gut. There are usually alot of people and books and media that will offer advice on how to parent your child. In the end it comes down to you and that sweet child. Have a solid support system of other new parents and do the parenting that works for your family. The rest will fall into place.
What is your favorite TV show or movie?: Any Bill Murray movie is a go! The show for me is The Office
What is your favorite place to vacation?: Anywhere that is warm, sunny, and near a body of water!
What is your favorite food?: Pizza- I cant help it!
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: I love to spend a day off by going kayaking with my family, going to the lake with friends, or staying home hunkered down and binge watching 'The Office' or 'Parks and Rec.'
Who lives in your house?: I live in my home with my wonderful partner of a husband, my daughter who is 3, and my little baby in my belly!
