Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: With a degree in sociology I am keen on issues within the family unit as well as diverse backgrounds. I’m pretty good in the kitchen having worked in the food service industry for some time as well.
What led you to become a Doula?: My experience with my own two children coupled with my passion for reaching out to new moms fueled my desire to become a doula.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
My clients say that I’m the “gift that keeps on giving” because of the knowledge that I have empowered them with.
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: My favorite pregnancy and parenting book is “Dr.Spock’s Baby and Child Care”. Simple and sound advice that never gets old.
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: When I see a pregnant woman I always think how beautiful she looks and then I want to make sure that she is taking it easy. When I see a new mom I’m excited for her and hope that she is being supported and loved.
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: My favorite “gift” to give a new mom as a doula is a nap because who doesn’t love a nap?
What is your favorite TV show or movie?: My favorite movie is whatever Bond film is on. My favorite TV show is Burn Notice. It just ended and I don’t have a new one yet.
What is your favorite place to vacation?: My favorite vacation spot is my cousin’s home in Florida. My husband sends me on a mommy vacation there every year.
What is your favorite food?: My favorite food is a nice hot crispy slice of pizza.
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: When I’m not working I love to spend time with my kids, go on a date night with my husband and sometimes take a nap!
Who lives in your house?: My husband Roger, our children Domino and Donnie, and our other babies our beagles Austin and Snowflake.
