Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: Many years working with Pregnant and New Moms. My experience with preemies with both with my own (1.5 lbs) and many new preemie families.

What led you to become a Doula?: My passion for birth, babies and families comes from my own story. I have two children of my own (now adults) and their antenatal, birth and postpartum stories couldn't have been more different. No two stories are ever the same and mine could not have been more different. My joy and challenges during my baby's special moments were something out of this world and from then forward it was my passion to be a Doula and provide for others what I was missing. I am fortunate and elated that I was part of my granddaughters' birth from beginning to end. No stories were the same. I have decided to be very specific with my training and certifications. Although there are many different courses and certifying organizations, I chose ProDoula for my certifications because my values match theirs, honor, respect, non-bias, and Judgement free just to name a few. I wanted to stick to where my immediate passion is. My focus is on prenatal, birth and the first few weeks of postpartum. My long-term postpartum focus is on premature babies and NICU support. My own personal experience with NICU is what led me to do Doula work. The doctors and surgeons and nurses were exemplary but there was still something missing...the personal, intimate touch for the babies hanging on between life and death. My story was a miracle but not all are. I am one of the lucky ones. This drove me to want to have the bereavement certifications and to become a Pregnancy and Loss advocate as well.
