Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: Being a parent to two children, having a background in nutrition, being familiar with a variety of cultures from around the world, being bilingual and being an herbalist are all things that I feel have come in handy in my role as a Doula.
What led you to become a Doula?: It was a long path beginning when I was 19 and thinking, "that sounds like a fun job" to actually having two children and realizing that I wanted to take this Doula thing more seriously.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
That I am a sweet person, that I truly care about people and that I can be very concise when necessary.
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: I love Birthing from Within, articles from DONA and anything Ina May Gaskin. As far as parenting goes, I really love Magda Gerber - RIE and Janet Lansbury.
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: I feel excitement. I want her to know all the things that I wish I had known before I had kids and at the same time I know that there is a path just for her where she will learn exactly what she needs.
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: Respect. I want to show every mom that they are warriors deserving the highest respect.
What is your favorite TV show or movie?: Lord of the Rings is my all time favorite movie.
What is your favorite place to vacation?: New York City
What is your favorite food?: Indian
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: I love a lazy day at home.
