Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have been serving families in different capacities for 10 years now. I spent most of my time in early childhood education as a preschool teacher and about 2 of those years teaching high school special needs. Through that work I continued to grow and further understand how to be the best possible caretaker and nurturer to people of all kinds.
What led you to become a Doula?: While searching for my own doula for my personal delivery I found myself extremely interested and continued researching until I realized that it was my calling to support women and their families in this way. As a doula I want to help curate a joyous experience as a part of a supportive network of people.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
I have been told that I am a joy to be around, a strong woman, with an infectious laugh (that’s just because I snort).
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: My local birth community; Midwives, Obstetricians, Pediatricians, Doulas, and trusted support systems.
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: The incredible journey that they are embarking on, all of the new beginnings, and all the lessons that are yet to be learned. I also wonder if they have a doula!
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: My unbiased support as well as the space that is needed for them to bring about their specific vision for their family.
What is your favorite TV show or movie?: Harry Potter anything
What is your favorite place to vacation?: NYC - I love the constant movement of the city
What is your favorite food?: Duck Fat Fries
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: Cuddling on the couch with my baby, watching tv, and just relaxing.
