Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I think my drive and passion and the WANT to be there and be a part of such a surreal moment is really beneficial to me being the best doula I can be. I’m very open-minded, always learning and I love to explore new techniques! From the young age of 13, I remember knowing that I needed to be a part of labor and delivery, in any way I could. I quickly started watching any movie and show that I could get my hands on just to learn!

What led you to become a Doula?: It’s always been a huge fascination! I started working in childcare as soon as I could get a job, went to college and became a photographer which lead to birth photography. I never realized that my love for birth would be this strong from such a young age! I started doing everything in my power to educate myself on labor and delivery and after going to college and I quickly learned birth is where my heart was at. I loved birth photography but I always wanted to be a part of a birth team, which is what lead me to doula work! When a baby is born time stops, the oxytocin flows and the only thing you feel is love.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

There are two that come to mind instantly! “You are an incredibly positive person”. I believe energy is contagious. If I’m a happy go lucky, it’s hard to not feel that energy and put it off to people that are around me. The other is, “you are so strong!” personally hearing this one is my favorite. I came from a rough upbringing, surrounded by drugs, abuse, and hate. I believe everyone has the power to make life what you want it. Turning my life around the second I was able to get my own place was all I had needed to know that there is so much more to life than what I was taught. Everyone deserves the chance to live their best life, and with the right support and community, I believe anything is possible.
