Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: Having been through very different birth and postpartum experiences with my own children as well as a miscarriage, I can bring my knowledge and experience to a variety of clients. I also love learning and will continually expand my knowledge to help even more clients.
What led you to become a Doula?: Motherhood can feel very isolating and overwhelming. I felt that way with both my children. Being a part of a large MOMS group, I realized I wasn’t the only one feeling that way. I want to help mothers of new babies more than just bringing a meal by. I want to help mothers thrive during their postpartum days/weeks/months instead of just surviving.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
People have said I am organized, productive, loving and easy-going.
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: www.mamanatural.com, Natural Health After Birth by Aviva Jill Romm, Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth by Ina May Gaskin
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: Is she getting the help she needs? Does she have a good support system around her? I hope she remembers to take care of herself too. And, of course, I have to say hi to the new baby!
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: Companionship and validation that she is doing what’s best for her child… and clean toilets!
What is your favorite TV show or movie?: I’m hooked on Timeless and Quantico when I have the time to watch TV. Otherwise it’s Zootopia.
What is your favorite place to vacation?: Bend, Oregon
What is your favorite food?: A good salad with strawberries or beets, goat cheese, toasted hazelnuts and a good vinaigrette. Yum…
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: Wandering the aisles of Target…by myself!
Who lives in your house?: Husband - Phil Son - Cameron Daughter - Ellis Puggle - Jack
