Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I completed a course in Special Needs Assistant which has equipped me to work with children that have special needs and this course provided me with the confidence to continue on and complete a Social Care Degree. I worked in homeless services for four years before beginning work as a family support worker to teenage parents. Through this work, I completed courses in Mellow Bumps, an antenatal programme to encourage bonding with the baby; the Incredible Years Parenting programme for children aged 0-8 years of age. I have also completed training in Integrated Energy Therapy and Ayurvedic Indian Head and Shoulder Massage. I also babysit for families in the local area and in hotels when required.
What led you to become a Doula?: When I began working as a family support worker, I was introduced to a colleague who later trained me in placenta encapsulation. Through this I was introduced to birth work which led to me then completing the Infant Feeding Specialist and Postpartum and Infant Care training with ProDoula.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
That I am a very outgoing bubbly person that can cope well under stress whilst maintaining a good sense of humour.
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: I enjoy the parenting resources provided through the Incredible Years programme although this may not always suit the parent I work with. I like to meet with the parent and then complete some of my own research in the books I have on hand and online to provide the most tailored resources to parents.
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: Excitement. Happiness. Tiredness.
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: The best gift that I can provide to new parents is non judgmental support and an ear to listen to.

What is your favorite place to vacation?: Portugal
What is your favorite food?: chicken
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: My favorite way to spend my day off is by relaxing in my own house with my close family or friends. I love to spend time in my house and to have people over.
Who lives in your house?: My partner and I live with our cat, Reese.
