Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I had four kids over a span of eight years and with each new experience I became more knowledgeable and experienced with the variety of struggles we face in parenthood. Over the last several years I have attended birth and breastfeeding conferences to soak up all the information I could to be the best supporter of parents in my community. I worked in a hospital setting with families in the first few hours and days after birth offering emotional and educational support to parents. It was always my goal to send them home to start this new chapter feeling confident and informed.

What led you to become a Doula?: When having my first two children I experienced difficult births without having good labor support or feeling empowered. I felt a loss of bodily autonomy and control in both situations. My postpartum periods were riddled with untreated anxiety. I frequently felt overwhelmed. My passion became to change that for other families.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

I am told frequently that I have an empathetic and welcoming presence.
