Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I’ve been serving families during birth for about 20 years. It is my great joy and honor to participate in the journeys of birth and growing families.
What led you to become a Doula?: It is my passion that women and families have birthing experiences where they are respected and encouraged to be fully participating in this sacred life-changing event. I was blessed to have this support and want to pass it on to others.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
“Nicole was so supportive, encouraging and knowledgeable” – “She knew what we needed before we did!” – “Nicole’s presence was gentle & calming”.
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: My favorite resource is listening to mamas tell their stories. I also read as many books as I can get my hands on about all things birth and postpartum.
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: “Bless you mama, you are in the thick of it! I hope you have all the support you need during this exciting and very tiring time.”
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: My biggest gift is listening and non-judgmental support and information. And I give really good massages.
What is your favorite TV show or movie?: Call the Midwife, Grey's Anatomy
What is your favorite place to vacation?: The beach. Or somewhere I don’t have to do laundry.
What is your favorite food?: Ethnic foods - Indian and Thai, the spicier the better!
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: A really good long nap!
Who lives in your house?: I am surrounded by boys - ages 16, 14 and 11, an amazing husband and a frisky cat.
