Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have been a CLC working with new families for seventeen years, that coupled with 21 years of parenting five children has taught me that every child and every parent is different and requires/desires different things. There is no one way to have a baby, nor one way to parent. I meet them where they are!
What led you to become a Doula?: The desire for women to know their true strength, power and worth. We make and raise humans! I learned along the way that Partners need this support too! Parenting Confidence has a ripple effect on our society.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
“It was amazing to have a support system totally dedicated to me, especially during a long and difficult labor and delivery. Paula was extraordinarily calming and totally focused. I don’t know what I would have done without her!”
“What I found most wonderful about Paula was that she was incredibly supportive of everything that we wanted. She gave me support, but most importantly, she helped my partner be as helpful and supportive as he could be. This gave him the confidence to make informed decisions, and be the support I needed in a time that might otherwise have been overwhelming and scary.”
“I Just wanted to say thank you for providing a TON of really useful and complete information. I felt that you were very nonbiased, and had all of our best interests in mind throughout the entire course. The services that you provide are invaluable to new moms (and dads). I feel that attending your classes is just as beneficial to my health as staying active and hydrated.”
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: This is tough because I don't recommend much but following your gut. I guess I'm a big advocate for support groups. both online and in person that match a parents needs.
