Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: Working as a mental health advocate in the military, it is often unspoken of the mental journey with bringing a new child into your lives. I've worked with families in all facets of life including postpartum to give me a glimpse into life after baby.

What led you to become a Doula?: Feeling incredibly empowered through my own pregnancy I started an immense about of research into the birth world leading me to find my very own doula who is a ProDoula herself. She inspired me, brought my family an overwhelming sense of comfort, and really set us on the right path to becoming first time parents.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

Some positive comments I’ve often heard is that I go out of my way to make the ones I care about happy, and that once I have my mind set on something I don’t let anything get in my way.

What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: The Birth Hour; a website/podcast with a multitude of real and raw birth stories ranging through all different types of births, adoptions, loss, and so much more. KellyMom; Run by a IBCL, it is a website that provides evidence based information on breastfeeding, parenting, and more.

What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: When I see someone with a brand new baby, I wonder what their experience is. Everyone's story is so different with many struggles. Often I also think, what can I do to help them?

What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: The best gift I feel like I, as a birth worker, could give new parents is a sense of confidence. That you can do this and you are not alone.

What is your favorite TV show or movie?: Billy Maddison

What is your favorite place to vacation?: In the moutains hiddin away in a little cabin.

What is your favorite food?: Pasta (or any kind of carbs!)

What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: Currently my favorite way to spend a day off is riding bikes with my family to a secluded area to picnic and explore!

Who lives in your house?: In my house is my partner in crime Curt (my husband of three years), an unstoppable snack monster (my one year old son Calvin), and two cats that almost act like forever one year olds (Miso and Mochi). To
