Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have worked with Midwives and OB/GYN's for over 7 years. I'm a train Centering Pregnancy Facilitator. Centering Pregnancy is a group prenatal program that provides patient family centered healthcare that supports the goals and objectives of the program, namely to reduce prematurity, increase breastfeeding rates and empower mothers to be with the support of other pregnant peers.
What led you to become a Doula?: I've always been the person people called when they went into labor. After working as a Centering Pregnancy Facilitator I realized I enjoyed teaching women what to expect during labor, showing them different labor positions etc., I always was uplifting the pregnant women and offering them resources. One of the midwives I worked with told me she took a Doula class and she suggested I become a Doula. Lets say after learning I had technically already had been doing birth work it didn't take me long to take a doula course.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
I’ve always been told that I bring peace and calmness when I’m around. One My clients mother once told me I was really patient with my daughter when she was in labor.
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: Experience from other parents and the many of books I have read (studied). Many different websites and podcasts etc.
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: I automatically smile and I get over joyed when I see a pregnant women. When see a brand new baby I always wonder how the mom is doing. Everyone always wants to see the baby and we most not forget the mom.
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: As a birth worker my gift is my knowledge and my willingness to support them with there decision making.

What is your favorite place to vacation?: I love to go to the beach.
What is your favorite food?: Maryland Crabs, Seafood, Stew Chicken, potato salad and Kale
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: I love to spend time with my family. I love to take my boys fishing and crabs. I love to go by the water or beach to read.
Who lives in your house?: My two awesome athletic scholar sons and our dog
