Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I believe that my own experiences with pregnancy and birth will be valuable to birth work. My 11 years of pediatric healthcare experience will also be of great value for birth work.

What led you to become a Doula?: I have always been a helper from a young age. I loved babysitting and taking care of kids, and have worked in pediatric healthcare for 11 years. I have really enjoyed my first career path, but I knew that I wanted to do more and that I really wanted to serve women. A google search led me to find this amazing career as a postpartum doula.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

“I can’t say enough about my decision to include my postpartum doula and I can’t say enough about Vicky! She will meet you wherever you are inside of your mothering journey. Vicky is one of the kindest ladies I have ever met- very knowledgeable and unassuming. You and your growing family will not regret this decision during this very special time of your lives. ” Ali- Momma of 2

What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?:

What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: My firsts thoughts when I see a pregnant person or someone with a brand new baby is joy for them, followed by empathy because I know how challenging pregnancy, the postpartum time, and a new baby can be.

What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: I feel that the best gift you can give new parents is unbiased support. New parents are overwhelmed and already overrun with unsolicited advice.

What is your favorite TV show or movie?: Park and Recreation

What is your favorite place to vacation?: My favorite vacations so far have been Las Vegas and Red River Gorge

What is your favorite food?: Ice cream

What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: My favorite way to spend a day off would start off early in the morning with a nice hot cup of coffee and got to my local yoga studio for a hot yoga class. In the afternoon I would read a book on my deck in the sunshine. That evening I would take my son to the park and we would order pizza for dinner. I would end the evening snuggled on the couch watching TV.

Who lives in your house?: My household includes myself, my 5 year old son, my amazing partner Kurt, and my partner's son when he is on leave from the military.
