Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have 3 different personal birth and postpartum experiences that have helped me grow in knowledge of options, the need for unbiased support, and the ability to provide that without judgment. The training I have received provided me with more knowledge in birth and postpartum options, along with the ability to serve any family personal birth or parenting desires.
What led you to become a Doula?: My desire to serve women during labor, delivery, and postpartum started when I was in highschool. I decided to pursue the career of a labor and delivery nurse. While taking my college courses my husband and I conceived our first baby. After the experience I had giving birth to him and caring for him as an infant with very little support, my desire to serve families only grew. I changed the course and pursued becoming a doula instead of a nurse for the continuity of care for each woman. I have different experiences and trainings that add to my knowledge. Aside from my passion to serve women and families during this time I love to have the gift of serving each family without judgment.

What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: I think of the joy they experience with each milestone in their pregnancy or life as a new mom. What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: The best gift I can give a new mom as her doula is the absolute ability to provide her with nonjudgmental support. I can meet her exactly where she is at and support her as she grows in her new role.
