On the day of the training

Arrive ready to learn – about yourself, about Doulas, mothers, babies and running or being a part of a successful business. You’ll be inspired, you’ll connect with the women around you and you’ll take a huge step in learning what it means to support women. You’ll become a member of ProDoula at the training class. By signing a membership agreement and paying the annual dues, you will be entitled to all of the privileges and benefits of a ProDoula Member.

You will leave your training with an assignment, a goal – within 2 weeks of your training send us your action plan. Women leave the workshop feeling like they can’t wait to get started… we will get you started!

Before the training you will receive your certification packet via email. Unlike most certification organizations, this will not include a huge list of books to be read – this process isn’t about you learning everything you need to know about women and babies, it’s about giving you the tools and resources to be able to serve any mother and any family, regardless of their circumstances or concerns. You will be given very specific research to do as well as a very extensive open book test. Additionally, you will serve several clients and describe in detail the services you provided. You will have 3 letters of recommendation written on your behalf describing the attributes that qualify you as a good candidate . As a final step in becoming a Certified Doula, ProDoula will conduct video interviews with one of your recommendations, one client that you served and of course YOU, the next ProDoula!

Upon receiving your certification packet, ProDoula will schedule the Skype/ video conference interviews immediately. Each packet will be responded to within 14 days of being received – you will be granted certification or receive additional tasks to be sure that you have met the standards set forth by ProDoula.
