Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I grew up with 4 younger siblings ranging from 4.5-14 years younger than me so I grew up helping care for and loving caring for babies and children. When I got older I worked with babies and young children and always felt passionate about the postpartum period. It intensified after having my own child. I helped several friends in various ways through their postpartum period. The work comes natural to me and I absolutely love taking care of women.
What led you to become a Doula?: I love and respect the sacredness of the postpartum period and want to help women during this time with whatever they may need. There is not another time like it, meeting and falling in love with your new baby.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
I’m a natural, I can easily juggle the demands, I am loving and caring, also adaptable. I am respectful of all parenting styles. I am easy to feel comfortable around and open up to.
What are your favorite pregnancy/parenting resources?: Kellymom.com, any of Avivia Romm's books, Dr. Sears books as well.
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?: I'm always feeling joyful when I see either. I always wonder how they are doing too.
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?: Sleep, nourishing food and the most relaxing environment you can.
What is your favorite TV show or movie?: Gilmore Girls, and my favorite movie is The Princess Bride
What is your favorite place to vacation?: Anywhere outdoors. I love exploring with my family
What is your favorite food?: My husbands completely from scratch thanksgiving dinner!
What is your favorite way to spend a day off?: Doing something fun with my kids, perhaps a trail or another outdoor activity. I also love to relax at night when they fall asleep by reading a good book
Who lives in your house?: My husband, our son and daughter. We also have 3 cats and a bird. Somehow the latter work together!
