Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: Certified Lactation Counselor through Healthy Children Center for Breastfeeding since 2014 ; Leader of the Clovis NM Breastfeeding Support Group since 2014-present; Professional trained Postpartum and Labor Doula through Prodoula 2016; Certified Labor Doula with Prodoula 2017; Volunteer with the Pregnancy Resource Center as breastfeeding liaison 2016-present; Leader of the Professional Female Group of Clovis NM and Surrounding Areas 2016-present; Secretary of the Lactation Provider Act Committee with the New Mexico Board of Nursing April 2017-current
What led you to become a Doula?: After the extremely difficult breastfeeding journey I had with my first son, with no help except from my husband, I knew prior to the birth of my second son that I needed support to achieve success. I joined a local breastfeeding group, where I learned that breastfeeding isn’t as “natural” as society likes us to believe. While a part of the group, I realized the passion I had for helping comfort, support and educate mothers during what can be a very difficult time.
